Recruitment Expectations

IFC strives to create a positive experience for all those involved in the recruitment process. To ensure this, each potential new member will agree to abide by the SMU and IFC policies as they register for Formal Recruitment. Students who violate this agreement may be disqualified from joining a fraternity that semester. In addition, any student who commits a conduct violation at any point during recruitment week will be removed from the recruitment process and not allowed to accept a fraternity bid.

We understand that an important part of recruitment falls on Labor Day. Our hope is that every student is in attendance in order to have an opportuinty to meet with all 10 Interfraternity Council fraternities. If a student has a schedule conflict, please reach out to IFC@SMU.edu

Registration and Payment

There are NO exceptions to the registration deadline.

IFC Formal Recruitment Registration

• There will be a registration fee of $100 to go through the IFC Recruitment process.
• You can pay the $100 online on the starting on June 15. 
  •  You will need to log in using your SMU email and password. 
• If you run into any issues with paying on SMU360 or need a refund, please reach out to ifc@smu.edu. 
• Payments will be accepted from June 15 - September 7. 

• You must submit an so that we may share your information with the IFC fraternities.

***The registration fee will need to be paid just once. 

May - Formal recruitment registration opens May 1 at 5 p.m. The application can be found on . 

Wednesday, September 2 at 11:59 p.m. - Formal recruitment registration closes - there are no exceptions to this deadline.

IFC Events Schedule 

Formal Recruitment Fall 2026

• August 26- Join IFC to Meet & Greet Event 
• September 5: House Tour Day: Spend time with each organization in their facility and meet members.
• September 8-11: IFC community event for potential new members- details to come!
• September 13-18: Chapter Invitation Events 
• September 19: Bid Day

*More details on fall recruitment schedule will be shared via email closer to the start of the fall semester.  

Definitions of Events

• Open IFC Chapter Events: These are events that anyone can go to. They are open to the public for PNMs to explore the different fraternities thÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ has to offer. 
• Invite Only Events: These are the events that chapters will invite you to. Chapter members will notify individual Potential New Members with details on these events.
• Orientation and House Tours: Orientation will give you general information (a snapshot) of the IFC community! House tours will give you the ability to visit every single fraternity on campus. 
• Bid Day: Once the recruitment process concludes you will receive a bid (invitation) to join the organization. As a community we love to do a run home once you found your fraternity!
